Bonus Jackpot Versions
By Gayle Mitchell
Add these two Bonus versions to your ‘VP collection’ and education.
We turn our attention to Double Double Jackpot Poker and Double Jackpot Poker.
These versions are also known as Aces and Faces.
The Double Double Jackpot Poker version boasts the better overall average return of
100.35% when played with optimum strategy.
The tables below illustrate the payout for specific winning hands, one coin return payout and maximum coin return payout.
Pay Schedule - Double Double
Jackpot Poker. 9/6 one-coin return max. coin return
Pair--Jacks or Better returns the bet 5 coins
Two pair (2 PR) returns the bet 5 coins
Three-of-a-kind (3/kind) pays 3-1 15 coins
Straight (ST) (sequence, not same suit) pays 5-1 25 coins
Flush (FL) (non-sequential, same suit) pays 6-1 30 coins
Full house (FH) (3 of a kind and a pair) pays 9-1 45 coins
Four-of-a-kind (quad) twos to tens pays 50-1 250 coins
Four-of-a-kind (quad) kings, queens, jacks pays 80-1 400 coins
Four-of-a-kind(quad) KQJ with AKQJ pays 160-1 800 coins
Four Aces pays 160-1 800 coins
Four Aces with KQJ pays 320-1 1600 coins
Straight flush (SF) (in sequence, same suit) pays 50-1 250 coins
Royal flush (RF) (except with max. coins) pays 250-1 4000 coins
As you can see, the straight at 25 coins and full house at 45 coins is more generous than most Bonus VP schedules. Generous, too, is the KQJ quads plus the four aces, with or without a fifth card.
Not much of a strategy change for players, as it’s second nature to hold Jacks or better with Bonus VP games, however a higher reward is yours with these versions.
Therefore, if you are dealt two pair, one pair being Jacks+, it is best to hold that one higher paying pair to grab that quad payout.
Overall Average Payback = 100.35
Pay Schedule - Double Jackpot Poker. 8/5 one-coin return max. coin return
Pair--Jacks or Better returns the bet 5 coins
Two pair (2 PR) pays 2-1 10 coins
Three-of-a-kind (3/kind) pays 3-1 15 coins
Straight (ST) (sequence, not same suit) pays 4-1 20 coins
Flush (FL) (non-sequential, same suit) pays 5-1 25 coins
Full house (FH) (3 of a kind and a pair) pays 8-1 40 coins
Four-of-a-kind (quad) twos to tens pays 20-1 100 coins
Four-of-a-kind (quad) kings, queens, jacks pays 40-1 200 coins
Four-of-a-kind(quad) KQJ with AKQJ pays 80-1 400 coins
Four Aces pays 80-1 400 coins
Four Aces with KQJ pays 160-1 800 coins
Straight flush (SF) (in sequence, same suit) pays 50-1 250 coins
Royal flush (RF) (except with max. coins) pays 250-1 4000 coins
This version is definitely a poorer imitation of its cousin above, however the better AKQJ quad payouts remain. The straight and full house is reduced by 5, but two pair is increased to ten with max. coin in play.
Holding both pairs, regardless of card rank is best here to collect at least the 10-coin reward and keep you in the game.
Overall Average Payback results in a respectable 99.63%.
Until next we meet, may all your VP choices turn out to be ‘royalty’.
